Are you curious to learn more about the origin of this song?

The poem of this song was written by the English author, Jane Taylor and was published in 1806. The poem was originally called “The Star.” About 30 years later, the poem was set to one of Mozart melodies known as variations on “Ah, vous dirai-je, Maman,” a popular French folk song of his time. As you may recognize, this melody turned into one of the most favorite children songs tunes and was used for several other alternative lyrics such as “Alphabet” and “Baa, Baa, Black Sheep” songs.
